About DDEV

DDEV is a Docker-based local development environment tool for PHP and Node.js projects. It provisions containerized services such as web servers (nginx or Apache), MySQL or PostgreSQL databases, Redis, and Mailpit, and requires no Docker expertise to use. Environments are configured to be identical across team members and machines, support running multiple projects simultaneously, and include a router that handles custom domain names and SSL automatically.

The tool provides ready-made presets for common CMS and framework stacks including Laravel, WordPress, Drupal, TYPO3, Backdrop, Magento, and Craft CMS. It is extensible through add-ons, lifecycle hook scripts, and custom Dockerfiles, and supports integration with other providers for deployment. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

DDEV is aimed at web development teams and agencies, as well as enterprise businesses and open source communities, looking to standardize local development setups and reduce onboarding time. It is open source, released under the Apache 2.0 license, and maintained by the DDEV Foundation.
