About WebPagetest

WebPageTest is a web performance testing tool that measures how a website loads and performs, offering diagnostics such as DNS, TCP, and TLS timing breakdowns, video capture of the loading process, and Core Web Vitals measurement. Tests can be run across multiple browsers, device types, geographic locations, and network connection types. A free tier allows instant tests with configurable region, device, and connection settings; creating an account unlocks additional features.

Originally created and open-sourced by Patrick Meenan in 2008, the tool was acquired by Catchpoint in 2020 and is now part of Catchpoint's Internet Performance Monitoring platform. Its code remains available under the Polyform Shield license.

Paid Pro and Enterprise plans add a developer-facing API, real user monitoring (RUM), AI-powered dashboards ("Smartboards"), no-code experiments, and monitoring dashboards. The tool is aimed at performance engineers and developers who need to measure and optimize website speed, user experience, and SEO-related metrics.
