About Markstream

Markstream is a family of streaming-friendly Markdown renderer packages for AI applications, with implementations available for Vue 3, React, Svelte, Angular, Nuxt, Vue 2, and Next.js. It supports progressive Mermaid diagram rendering, streaming diff code blocks, and handling of large documents, and is designed for use cases such as AI chat interfaces with SSE or token-streaming output, documentation sites (including VitePress themes), and content-heavy pages.

The renderer exposes both a `content` and `nodes` integration path depending on whether an app is a static page or a streaming interface, and allows built-in node renderers such as `image`, `code_block`, `mermaid`, and `link` to be overridden with custom, scoped components. It also supports adding custom tags (for example, turning a `thinking` tag into a custom node) without modifying the underlying parser.

The product targets developers integrating Markdown rendering into existing applications, including those migrating from other renderers such as react-markdown. Documentation includes framework-specific quick starts, an API reference for parser hooks and AST-level transforms, troubleshooting guides for CSS, peer dependency, and SSR issues, and materials intended for use with AI coding assistants, including repository context files and reusable prompts.
