Clerk is an authentication and user management platform for web applications. It provides drop-in UI components for sign-up, sign-in, user profile management, and organization management, which can be styled to match a host application's branding and deployed on a custom domain.

The platform supports both individual user authentication and B2B use cases, including organization creation, account switching, membership management, and invitations. Authentication methods include passwords, social sign-on (20+ providers), email and SMS one-time passcodes, and magic links. Additional features include multifactor authentication, bot detection, fraud and abuse prevention (blocking disposable email domains and "+" email subaddresses), session management with active device monitoring and revocation, and API key issuance for end users.

Clerk also includes a billing component (PricingTable) for displaying subscription plans and managing billing within an application. The service is SOC 2 Type 2 and CCPA compliant, with regular third-party audits and penetration testing.
