About Agent Island

Agent Island is an open-source status companion for AI coding agents, running natively on macOS and Windows and living in the menu bar (or the notch on macOS) rather than as a dock icon or window. It monitors session state for Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Grok, and Cursor, showing whether a session is working, waiting, or stalled, and tracks quota and cost usage over weekly and monthly periods.

The application runs locally, reading transcript files that the coding agents already write to disk and calling official usage APIs with tokens already present on the machine. It requires no account and sends no telemetry; a weekly report card (total tokens with an API-value estimate, usage split between providers, 7-day bars, and a model breakdown) is rendered locally and only shared if the user chooses to copy or share it.

Agent Island is aimed at developers who use one or more of the supported AI coding agents and want visibility into session status and usage/cost without a cloud-based dashboard. It is distributed under the MIT license, installable on macOS via Homebrew or a DMG from GitHub releases, and on Windows as a WPF build (win-x64 zip) from the same releases page. Since v2.1.2, both platforms ship from the same release tag with the same five providers and features. macOS shows a first-launch warning because the app is ad-hoc signed rather than signed with a paid Apple Developer account; updates are verified via an EdDSA signature check through Sparkle.
