About Agent Island

Agent Island is an open-source status companion for Claude Code and Codex, available natively on macOS and Windows. It lives in the menu bar (or notch area on macOS) rather than the dock, displaying live session state and turn alerts by reading transcript files that Claude Code and Codex write to disk. It distinguishes between working, waiting, and stalled session states, and generates weekly report cards showing total tokens with an API-value estimate, a Claude-vs-Codex usage split, 7-day usage bars, a top-3 model breakdown, and a user rank.

The application runs entirely locally: it reads local transcript files and calls official usage APIs with tokens already present on the machine, without requiring an Agent Island account or sending telemetry. Report card images are rendered locally and only shared if the user chooses to copy or share them. The source code is MIT licensed and published on GitHub.

It is installable on macOS via Homebrew (`brew install tristan666666/tap/agentisland`) or as a DMG from GitHub releases, and on Windows as a downloadable win-x64 zip containing AgentIsland.exe. Because the macOS build is ad-hoc signed rather than notarized with a paid Apple Developer account, first launch requires a right-click → Open, though update packages are verified via an EdDSA signature check through Sparkle. It is intended for developers who use Claude Code or Codex and want local, private monitoring of agent session activity and usage statistics.
