Upstash is a serverless data platform offering Redis, a vector database, and messaging/workflow tools accessed through HTTP-based APIs. Redis provides low-latency, in-memory data storage with disk-based persistence, automatic backups, and multi-region replication; typical uses include caching, session management, rate limiting, leaderboards, and chat. Vector is a serverless vector database for similarity search at scale, combining disk-based indexing with metadata filtering via SQL-style queries. QStash handles serverless messaging and scheduling over HTTP, including CRON-based scheduled tasks and automatic retries for failed deliveries. Workflow orchestrates serverless functions with support for long-running processes and automatic error recovery. Box provides secure, isolated cloud containers for AI agents with shell, filesystem, and git access, persistent storage, and usage-based pricing.

The platform is built for serverless and edge environments, with data replicated across 8 or more regions and per-request pricing that scales to zero. It is tested and optimized for Vercel Edge, Cloudflare Workers, and Fastly Edge. Client SDKs are available for TypeScript and Python.

Upstash also provides tooling for AI coding agents, including a skills package covering its SDKs and CLI, an MCP server for managing and debugging resources (databases, QStash logs, workflow runs) from an editor, and a CLI for resource management from the terminal or CI/CD with JSON output.
