Happy Hues is a color palette inspiration site that demonstrates how color combinations look when applied to real design elements rather than showing colors in isolation. Users can toggle between different palettes to see how each set of colors renders across a mock webpage layout, including sections like headers, cards, icons, and a newsletter signup, with hex codes available to copy for each element. The site also includes educational content covering color terminology (hue, tint, shade, tone, value, saturation) and color psychology, describing common associations and effects for colors such as red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple, white, and black.

The site is aimed at designers and illustrators who have selected or are considering a color palette but are unsure how to apply it within a design project. It was built by Mackenzie Child, who also created other side projects including Colorables (printable coloring pages), Acme Logos (placeholder logos), and Blocks (a wireframing tool). Happy Hues was designed and built using Webflow, without code.
