Best Figma Plugins in 2026, Ranked by Job

Quick answer: The plugins worth installing in 2026 are Iconify for icons, Content Reel for placeholder content, Tokens Studio for design systems, Stark for accessibility, and html.to.design for pulling a live site into Figma. All five shipped an update within the last six months. Many famous plugins have not.

Every "best Figma plugins" list has the same problem: nobody checks whether the plugins still work. We pulled install counts and version history straight from the Figma Community for every plugin below on 15 September 2026. Some of the results were uncomfortable.

Which popular Figma plugins are abandoned?

These are all still recommended in current listicles. The dates are their most recent published version:

| Plugin | Installs | Last updated | |---|---|---| | Charts | 322,284 | 4 September 2019 | | Able (accessibility) | 106,169 | 17 January 2020 | | Batch Styler | 91,775 | 6 February 2021 | | Blush | 446,248 | 28 July 2021 | | Coolors | 85,707 | 1 February 2022 | | Photopea | 142,698 | 18 October 2022 | | Similayer | 104,408 | 6 November 2022 | | Design Lint | 98,725 | 1 December 2023 | | Feather Icons | 518,123 | 17 December 2023 | | Remove BG | 756,138 | 12 March 2024 | | Material Design Icons | 857,307 | 16 September 2024 | | Unsplash | 1,808,689 | 22 April 2025 |

Charts has not shipped a version in seven years and still has 322,284 installs. Able is an accessibility checker whose last release predates WCAG 2.2 entirely, which is a specific and bad kind of stale: it will still give you a confident pass or fail against an old rulebook.

Install count measures how many people installed something once. It is a popularity record, not a health check, and the two have come apart badly.

What are the best Figma plugins in 2026?

Ranked by the job you are hiring them for, newest-first on maintenance.

  1. Stark. Accessibility and contrast. 299,666 installs and 225 published versions, most recently 10 September 2026. Free tier covers contrast checking; the vision simulators and reporting sit behind a paid plan. It is the only accessibility plugin here that is still actively developed.
  2. Tokens Studio. Design tokens and theming. 94,139 installs, 223 versions, last updated 9 September 2026. Free to use with a paid Pro tier for team sync. This is the one to learn if your design system needs to survive contact with a codebase.
  3. html.to.design. Imports a live website into editable Figma layers. 353,060 installs and 413 versions, last updated 4 September 2026. Freemium, with a credit-based paywall inside the plugin. Genuinely the fastest way to start a redesign of something that already exists.
  4. Content Reel. Placeholder names, avatars, and text that do not look like placeholder text. 749,159 installs, updated 29 August 2026. Free. The oldest idea on this list and still the best executed.
  5. Iconify. Icon search across hundreds of open-source sets in one interface. 1,832,905 installs, the most of any plugin here, 75 versions, last updated 24 August 2026. Free and open source. It makes nearly every single-set icon plugin redundant.
  6. LottieFiles. Browse, preview and export Lottie animations without leaving the file. 372,694 installs, updated 28 July 2026. Free plugin.
  7. Icons8. Icons, illustrations and photos from one library. 640,363 installs, updated 2 September 2026. Free tier requires attribution; paid plans remove it.
  8. Google Sheets Sync. Fills a design with real rows from a spreadsheet. 147,406 installs, updated 6 April 2026. Free, and the honest answer when a stakeholder asks to see real data.
  9. Builder.io. Figma to code, including React, Vue and Tailwind output. 409,958 installs across 390 versions, updated 6 April 2026. Free tier with paid plans above it.
  10. Autoflow. Draws flow arrows between frames. 653,026 installs, last updated 13 May 2025, freemium. The oldest thing on this list still worth installing, and the one to re-check in a year.
  11. Clean Document. Tidies layer names, removes hidden junk, sorts pages. 106,143 installs, updated 4 August 2025. Free.

Do the design tools you already use have Figma plugins?

This is the part nobody checks. We keep a directory of developer and design tools, and we looked up each of our design and asset entries in the Figma Community. Twenty of the twenty-seven we checked ship a plugin, so the library you already use is often one install away from being inside your file:

| Our listing | Plugin installs | Plugin last updated | |---|---|---| | Iconify | 1,832,905 | 2026-08-24 | | Icons8 | 640,363 | 2026-09-02 | | Stark | 299,666 | 2026-09-10 | | Mobbin | 26,850 | 2026-03-03 | | Iconbuddy | 3,536 | 2026-02-27 | | Hugeicons | 17,213 | 2025-12-03 | | Noun Project | 2,622 | 2025-11-20 | | SVG Repo | 26,452 | 2025-04-28 | | Lottielab | 12,845 | 2024-11-13 | | Storyset | 191,169 | 2024-04-03 | | Blush | 446,248 | 2021-07-28 |

The pattern is worth noticing: the plugins published by icon libraries that are still actively building, like Iconify and Icons8, ship constantly. The plugins attached to a tool whose main product moved on, like Blush, freeze. If you want more of these, our icon and illustration categories are where the ones with plugins cluster.

How do you check a Figma plugin before installing it?

Open its Community page and look at three things before you click Install. The version history, which tells you the real last-updated date rather than the "popular" badge. The number of published versions, since a plugin on version 225 has a maintainer and one on version 5 probably does not. And the support contact, because a GitHub issues link is a much better sign than a personal email address.

That takes about twenty seconds and would have saved a lot of people from Charts.

Frequently asked questions

What are some good Figma plugins for design systems?

Tokens Studio for tokens and theming, and Clean Document for the unglamorous work of keeping layer names and pages tidy. Batch Styler used to be the third recommendation here and has not been updated since February 2021, so treat anything it does to your styles with suspicion.

What are the best free icon plugins for Figma?

Iconify, comfortably. It covers hundreds of open-source icon sets in one search box, it is free and open source, and it was updated three weeks before this was written. Single-set plugins like Feather Icons still install fine but have been frozen for years, and Iconify already contains their sets.

Are Figma plugins free?

Most are, and the ones on this list mostly are. The common pattern now is a free core with a paid tier for team features or higher limits, which is how Stark, Tokens Studio, Builder.io and html.to.design all work. Figma also supports paid plugins billed through the Community, so check the plugin page before assuming.

Do abandoned Figma plugins still work?

Often, yes, which is exactly why they stay popular. A plugin that only inserts an SVG keeps working for years. The ones that break quietly are those depending on an external service, a changed API, or a design standard that moved, which is what makes a stale accessibility or code-export plugin more dangerous than a stale icon plugin.

How many plugins should I install?

Fewer than you think. Every plugin is third-party code with access to your file contents, and the quick-actions menu becomes useless past about a dozen. Install for a specific job, and uninstall the ones you stopped opening.
